| Ruarc is telepath for the Unseelie Queen and tries to run a business with sirens, pirate queens and children of the gods who don't have a very long attention span. To complicate his life further he's constantly being thrown together with a vampire named Maria. She's near death after helping save him from a goblin's attack so he takes her home and shares his bed and some of his faery blood.
Ruarc and Maria are great as they try to believe what they've been taught about faeries and vampires being bad for each other. Seems like whenever they let their hair down it's all good in dreams and in reality. One of the most erotic interludes in the book, and there are a bunch, happens when Ruarc accidentally falls into one of Maria's dreams! A vampire couple and their human from Sundown in Rome drop in unexpectedly and provide a lot of chuckles at Ruarc's and Maria's expense. There are a lot of laughs spread throughout the tale as Maria fights her attraction for Ruarc. He's so totally smitten! He and Maria get so side tracked it seems only accidental that they fall into a situation where they can stop the attacks on Ruarc. The author's writing skills and tongue in cheek humor make this a fast moving, exciting book well worth the read. Ms. Marsters has built one great series of books with this Sundown Investigation set. I haven't read them in order but each is as good as the last and stands alone.
