| Kitty Feathers escaped Easy, Arizona, under a cloud of scandal at eighteen. She left her family, a beauty pageant title, and the only love of her life.
She returns ten years later as sophisticated city girl Kate for her mother’s funeral, still wounded by her disgrace. Max Connors is the sexy cowboy she blames for spreading rumors about her. She loved him then, and must come to grips with the fact that she is still attracted to him.Kate is forced to remain in Easy for two weeks, running her mother’s successful tea shop and coping with the old high school bully, now an assistant sheriff intent on causing both Max and Kate pain. Kate’s deceased mom plays a pivotal role, even though Kate hadn’t seen her for ten years. Lillian Feathers had been stubborn, controlling, and amazingly loving. The story is complicated and enhanced by a long-standing family feud, a gypsy-like tea leaf reader, and a cup that channels the spirit of Kate’s mother with the songs of Roy Orbison. Bleser has created a truly unique character here.Horse therapy for handicapped children, a battle over property ownership, and sisterly love all play a part. Bleser is a talented writer, skillfully combining all the elements in a very readable tale. The characters and setting are believable and well thought out. The town of Easy has a genuine small town feel. The romance is heated, but not torrid. The opening line is a joy, and the remainder of the book follows suit.
