| Eve insisted Amy’s death was no accident. No one believed her. After seven years Eve is back with Amy’s journal and it looks like she could have been right all along. There are several suspects who might have had reason to do the deed and who could have had the opportunity. Whoever did it back then might or might not be the same one trying to kill our heroine now. Does the corruption go as high as the police chief? He ruled Amy’s death an accident despite the evidence. Was Adam’s father involved? He was caught with diamonds on him, but never arrested. Our hero is tortured by guilt and the necessity to overcome his old man’s reputation in the community. It keeps him from accepting the one thing he needs in life – Eve. Her whole world was destroyed when her Aunt Amy was killed and Adam rejected her. Can Adam make it up to her and still keep his promise to Amy?
The character development in Edge of Darkness is impressive, above and beyond what I usually see. I couldn’t help falling in love with both the main characters and a few of the secondary ones as well. The story line is tight, well planned and expertly implemented. It was a joy to read this book. The mystery starts unfolding with the very first page. The suspense pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. Several mysteries are wound together flawlessly and only add to the enjoyment of reading the story. There is a brief section that seemed to have been skipped by the editor. It made me pray the book didn’t fall apart; I was already that invested in the story. Then, everything was flawless again, and the book really delivered in the end. I can’t wait to read more by this author. Even the sex is worthy of their having waited seven years to finish what they started and consummate their love. You can’t go wrong with Edge of Darkness by Tess Harrison.
