When Texas Ranger Copper Reeves goes on the hunt for a suspected murderer, he finds more than he bargains for when two boys mistake him for a deer. The panicked boys take their unintended victim to the only adult they think can help, their teacher Miss. Eliza Woodpen. Eliza has been hiding from a past she'd rather forget, but a chance newspaper article promises discovery from a powerful foe. Her troubles are compounded when two of her students bring a wounded man to her home. This man could be her ruin or her salvation. Can she open her heart to the man and share the secrets she’s held for three long years?

I found this an interesting and well-written story. Eliza is a damaged woman, mistreated and maligned her whole life and now forced on the run. Though I understand this and really felt for her, I spent a lot of time simply marveling at how beyond tolerant Cooper was with her. Cooper is patient yet persistent while Eliza struggles with her demons. This is a warm gentle story about finding your match and learning to trust and I truly enjoyed it. It’s not hot and steamy and it’s not fast-paced suspense, it’s just a really good love story. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.
