Dru Horvath is an award-winning journalist who documents abuses against women, the job taking her all over the world. Because of her vocation, she is wary and doesn't want to risk her heart. Police Chief Rory McElroy has had two bad experiences with marriage and does not want to risk again. But Dru Horvath returns to town to receive an award, though she's not happy about having to accept it at a class reun8ion. Chief McElroy is in charge of keeping her safe against the third world thugs who want to permanently silence her. What Dru and Roy don't bargain on is their attraction and growing love for one another.

I enjoyed this book. The author has done a fine job of creating two characters who absolutely don't want a romance. Nor do they have any desire to attend a class reunion, especially if it means reuniting with former enemies. The author has created a hero who is happy in his job as a police chief, cares for his teenage daughter, and is through with marriage. The author shows Rory as a caring man, but who in reality is lonesome. The author has created a lovely heroine in Dru Horvath, interesting, beautiful world traveler. The author does a good job of describing feelings and emotions of the two main characters, especially making clear the instant attraction between the hero and heroine. The author has also done a fine job with the sense of place, and with the cast of secondary characters. The story kept me interested from the prologue to the very last page.

I would gladly ready another book by this author.
