| Brett, an architect, has been disappointed in love. The woman he wanted to marry had accepted a six-month contract in America, but extended it by a year, ending their relationship. Just when he needed a distraction he finds a decrepit castle and with the help of his best friend a building contractor, and his father, an interior designer, he makes it the home of his dreams and builds a new life, and hopefully a new love life for his future and putting Katya and the past behind him.
This author tells a wonderful love story and this book is no exception. The setting of the restored castle seems symbolic of his getting over the love of his life. The characters are very well done, particularly the indomitable Mrs. T.; I just loved her character. Brett and his father Mark are vivid characters with a very close relationship, and Brett¢s best friend Jake, though not so vivid, is very likeable. The plotline is easy to follow and Brett¢s budding romance with Victoria has promise, but like real life things do not always work out as expected. I was enjoyed Brett¢s rescue of Victoria from the evil aunt and sleazy bartender. The second section of the book was very good; I really enjoyed the rekindling of Brett and Katya¢s romance. Brett and his father¢s relationship is very realistically portrayed. I was intrigued by Gwyneth the female mason, and would have liked to have seen more of her, but the author quite correctly focused on the main characters and their story. This author is always one of my favorites, her sense of romance and justice always make for a great story with a satisfying ending.
