It's been almost a year since Nick Tanner set off through space in hopes of finding an alien race that might help save the earth from other alien invaders. Caitlin continues the struggle to hold out hope for his safe return. She also worries for Nick's son, Michael. After growing up in an alien prison being repeatedly tortured to near death by his own mother, Kathleen, will Michael ever be able to find his place in the world? Jacqueline wants more from Michael than friendship, but will Michael ever be able to give her what she needs? Jace has returned to Lilly and Jaime, but will he ever be whole enough that they can be a family? After the revelation that Victor is not Areth, but Sorracchi, Beverly has left him. They are both miserable, but how can she ever trust him? Amber died in childbirth leaving an orphaned baby girl. What will become of her? When the Sorracchi take Michael, there is no doubt that Phoenix will go in and take him back, but it will take days to implement a rescue mission. Will Michael survive that long in Kathleen's clutches? Will our little band of rebels overthrow their oppressors and free the world? Will there ever again be peace on earth?

I've awaited every installment of the Phoenix Rebellion series with bated breath. The characters are so genuine and their situation so acute it was hard to wait for the rest of the tale. Now that we've arrived at the conclusion, it is wonderful to find out how things work out for everyone, either for the good or bad. But I am also struck with sadness to have to say good-bye to the characters whose lives I've shared for so long, to the people who have come to mean so much to me. Ms. Delaney presents her stories and her characters in such a way that the reader never thinks of them as fiction, but as good friends whose losses we mourn and whose victories we celebrate. I know I am going to commemorate the end by reading the series again from the beginning. If you've never read them then you must. The Phoenix Rebellion series is the most treasured of all my books; their story the most beloved. End Game by Gail R. Delaney was very satisfying. While the pain of loss has dulled, it remains, but the world has every hope of a bright, if difficult, future. If you haven't read The Phoenix Rebellion Books I - IV, you're really missing out on an exciting and special experience. Don't miss it.
