| When last we visited Orchard Hill, Pansy Parker and Misty Green were still in a contest to see who could use her matchmaking skills best. So far in this series, they are in a dead heat at two matches each. At the end of the last book, Pansy’s son, Perry, had moved back in with his mother but was secretly dating Misty. Misty’s father, Art, was visiting with her, but courting Pansy. Would this be the book that would expose their duplicity?
Oliver was the new physical education teacher at Orchard Hill Elementary School. Hope was the librarian. However, they had known, and been very interested in, each other during college. For some reason, Oliver quit talking to Hope at all. She never knew why, but neither ever got over their attraction to the other. Oliver had emotional problems and family disappointments to overcome. Hope had too much family, it seemed. Ms. Kara Lynn Russell approached these two main characters in such a loving and compassionate way that it was impossible not to root for the couple to make a connection. This inspirational romance, as do her others, exposes the reader to God and the personal relationship her cast have with Him. This is always done in a subtle, inoffensive way. Ms. Russell’s secondary characters are vital to the telling of her story. Each one has a really believable personality and therefore we become somewhat acquainted with each before that person becomes the main character. Reading her books is like visiting with old friends in a familiar setting. I believe that Ms. Kara Lynn Russell is one of today’s great inspirational writers and, as such, deserves to have her material praised. I highly recommend that everyone read her work, especially this book. May I say again how much I love this series and this author? Score one more for Pansy! She didn’t have time to gloat, however, before she saw her son kiss her rival (Misty) in the church. I cannot wait for the next installment in this dynamic series.
