Emory had found his mate. Unfortunately, she was not only terrified of him but was also kin to the those who hunted his kind. After a devastating attack on his brother's pack, Emory heads to Colorado. He and his brother are after the Shepards who killed their packmates and to find Mary Shepard. Mary has been beaten down by the family who wishes to 'save' her from the demons. Her parents had broke from that family and raised her without theses toxic beliefs. Although frightened by Emory's ability to shift, Mary witnessed true evil while with the Shepards. She has to make a choice and the one she makes almost gets her killed. Once Emory catches up with her, nothing will be the same. She doesn't understand what it means to be a mate, but she will. Even as Mary admits here feelings for Emory, she knows nothing can come of it. Her family will never let her go and she can't allow them to harm the man she loves.

This is the second book in the series and I would strongly recommend starting at the beginning. The author is telling one story and allowing us to experience it a piece at a time. While each individual book seems to focus on one couple, they're all caught up in something bigger and their lives are intertwined. While this is Emory and Mary's tale, all the characters we grew to care about from Omega Mine are here and a few new ones too. Once again, Ms. Hunter weaves a spellbinding story filled with rich detail, scorching sex and complex subplots. Mary is a fantastic character with courage and strength. Emory compliments her wonderfully and their mating is incredibly emotional and sensual. The action never stops as the enemy closes in. The world building is engaging as we watch the author weave this exciting story and set the stage for future ones. I love that Ava and Diskant had such prominent rolls in this book. There's a continuity here that just feels so right. I was pulled into this epic from the start and can't wait to see where it's heading.
