| "En Garde", while being an 'older man gets together with a younger woman' story, isn't a typical example of those stories. Kelly and John first met because of fencing (the kind with swords). They are attracted to each other, but John is too afraid to make a move because he believes he's much too old for Kelly. Do they get together in the end? Please read the book to find the answer.
While this was the first time that I had read any of Mr. Belegon's work, I was extremely glad that I had asked to for it. Shorter than the stories that I normaly read, it was, and is an amazing read. I loved the way he wrote the story, and the way the he made the people and events seem so real. I also loved the conflicting emotions within John, the way his heart wanted to do something, but his head told him it was impossible; the action between him and Kelly, and the way he wrote both of them. The turnament which finally brought John and Kelly together was one which could actually happen. I can firmly promise you that I loved "En Garde" far more than I thought I would, and I will most asuredly be recommending it to everyone that I know that loves romace; and "En Garde" will be permanently placed within the mountain of books that is labeled "to be read".
