Escape to Love is the story of Celine Hollingsworth. She is running for her life when a horse ridden by Michael Aberdeen tramples her. When Michael gets down to check on her he finds she is covered in blood and unconscious. As he checks her closer he realizes the blood did not appear to be her own. There are also signs she has been beaten. He takes her home and has his personal doctor examine her. As he cares for her through her nightmares he learns of her ordeal. She has escaped from the asylum and there is a murderer after her. He vows he will take care of her but this is complicated by the arrival of Marguerite his betrothed. Marguerite sets about to get rid of Celine sensing she is competition for Michael's attention. Marguerite does everything to discredit Celine. Through it all Michael feels drawn to Celine and starts to see Marguerite as she really is. Marguerite is not the only danger to Celine for there is someone that means to see her dead. Through all their trials it will be up to Michael to see the truth and protect Celine.

Escape To Love is appropriately named for Celine escapes the asylum to be found by Michael and the two find love. This is an exciting story filled with intrigue. It is obvious that Celine has been through a terrible ordeal but she even questions her own sanity. There is the mystery of who is after Celine and for what purpose does he want her dead? There are many colorful characters, including a cockney speaking maid that will help in protecting Celine. The dialogue is fluid and easy to follow. The plot of the story involves solving the mystery of Celine's ordeals. This is carried out through the creative writing of Carolyn Hinchy-Wertman. She will keep you guessing about why a murderer stalks Celine. The ending took me completely by surprise. The story is set in England during the year 1643. The country is suffering through the unrest between Cromwell and King Charles. There are people that are desperate and every stranger is suspect as a potential thief. For Michael to go out of his way to help Celine shows the strength of his character. Through the dialogue and interactions of the characters we are able to see the separation of the classes and the prejudices that this causes. In this way the author helps us to visualize the life as it was during this era. This is a creative and exciting adventure that will keep the reader guessing throughout the story. I recommend this book to all readers that enjoy historical romances.
