| Willow is back in Esmerelda, the town that is ruled by the Dalton Family. The eldest son always becomes the sheriff, and each Dalton viewed the world in black and white, right and wrong. There was no middle ground. Willow left Esmerelda after unjustified gossip concerning a Dalton cousin. And the young man she loved, J.W. Dalton, the eldest son, refused to even consider her innocence. Now her mother is dead and she is her sole heir. She's back at Esmerelda, and not to settle her mother's affairs. She fully intends to make J.W. heal the wound he left on her soul when she left town.
Esmerelda's Secret was a quick read about a second chance between lovers. J.W. misunderstood several things, and allowed those things to come between himself and Willow. I didn't really have any complaint against this book, but the emotions were not as intense as I've come to expect from similar stories. Willow was a very strong heroine, demanding that J.W. listen to her rather than keeping his misguided ideas about her. And as a result, she received something she wanted. She didn't chase after J.W.; rather, she made him chase after her. I liked that about her. The story was shorter than I'd have preferred, if only because I wanted to see more of J.W. and Willow. I'd pick up another book by this author, and recommend Esmerelda's Secret to readers that enjoy a good second chance romance.
