Titania Alcott is a telekinetic singer whose songs bring comfort and healing. Her powers draw The Brethren, an evil group of vampires who woo their victims then feed on their blood, pain and fear. Her beauty and her soul draw another type of vampire, Diego, when she tries to save him from an attack by Brakka, the one who turned him almost five centuries ago.

This is one of the most powerful love stories I’ve read recently. Diana Castilleja has done a fantastic job molding her characters, both good and evil. Titania and her band members, Diego, the villains, all come alive with her descriptive use of words that help us visualize them.

With this book the author shows us to what lengths good people or, in the case of Diego and Nathan, vampires will go to stay good. Diego has survived, grown, lived without ever taking a life or turning a human to his way of life. He’s also lived without love, without people, without joy because he has a conscience. She contrasts that well with the villains who have no boundaries around the ways and means they will use to create more evil. They’re sociopathic as vampires, as power hungry as they probably were when human.

Ms. Castilleja has crafted an excellent book. I hope there’ll be more to come soon about Diego, Titania and the gifted friends they’ve found.
