Marcello knows of Tatiana's part in helping her brother cover up the murder he committed. He knows she is much more than she seems and has to have her by his side. The fact that he has spent centuries alone hardens his resolve to be with her. Threatening to tell her father about what happened, he has her right where he wants her. Now he will show her that there is no escape from him. This book is a historical and really good. I wasn't expecting a lot that happened in this book and don't want to tell too much for fear of giving the story away. Marcello is controlling and strong willed; he will have Tatiana at all costs. His vampire background adds mystery and intrigue to the plot. All I can say is you really have to read this one to understand what I'm talking about, but you won't be sorry.
