| The whole d’Argent clan, sans Claude, is in New Orleans at the wedding reception of Stefan d’Argent and his bride Julie, whom he met when Louis Reynard targeted her for his next victim. Louis was severely damaged in that battle and is recuperating in his isolated lair in the Carpathian Mountains. He sent Wim Reynard to observe the festivities and report on the activity of Alina d’Argent, queen of the clan. She is gazing into the eyes of the mortal, Sam Quill, father of the bride and host of the event. The mortal projects power and dominance and Wim can sense the aura of sexual awareness surrounding the two as they sway in time with the music. Sam has no desire to become a vampire, but he is falling for their queen. Alina is already half in love with Sam, the only one she’s felt an attraction for in centuries. There isn’t any hope of a relationship between them, is there?
This is the story of Alina d’Argent, queen of vampires. She is attracted to Sam’s dominance and longs to drop her responsibilities and be submissive. Eternal Surrender’s sex scenes contain BDSM elements that are tender and loving in their dominance. The exciting plot is well written, all the threads of the story are seamlessly woven together. The characters are well developed, even the secondary characters are well known to us since this is the third book in the series. This story reveals many things we didn’t know previously about Alina; her character develops quite openly as the pages turn. Most of the story takes place in New Orleans after Katrina. The climax takes place at the d’Argent castle outside Paris where they engage in some group sex designed to restore the power of a newly made vampire to sexual function and procreation. This book can be read as a stand alone story. I recommend it to everyone, but be advised, nobody can read just one.
