Mara Leone is a cop and familiar with vampires. Just when she thinks that everything is quieting down Louis Reynard rears his head and the killing begins. Mara has to stop him and there is only one man who can help her, Alex. Alex is also a vampire, but he’s on the side of good and Mara knows if she wants any chance of stopping Reynard then Alex is her only hope. She will become more involved with Alex than she wants to be, but will soon find out Alex is not so willing to let her walk away.

The number one thing that Alex wants to do is catch Reynard. He thought that he was finally defeated and then he shows up even more evil than ever. Mara is the sparky cop that has decided to go after Reynard and he won’t let her do it alone. Alex never thinks that helping her bring down Reynard will get him so involved with her, but he soon finds himself wanting her beyond anything else. After all this time has Alex finally found the one woman that can end his bachelorhood?

Ann Jacobs started this series off with a bang and she has kept it going through four books. She adds another chapter to the D’Argent history and tells the sparkling story of Mara and Alex. Gutsy does not even begin to describe Mara and in a male dominated field she has to be strong. Alex is charming and debonair with an air of confidence that can’t be equaled. Coming back to rear his ugly head is the evil Reynard and watching him be hunted makes the tale that much more exciting. Ann Jacobs has done an excellent job with the D’Argent series and readers will eagerly await the next book in the series.
