Drake has created a complex, riviting story that will grab you from the start. The two main characters, Amber and Rick, are easily understood. Amber craves a secure home life and future, whereas Rick comes from a dark past that he is not proud of. Even though family has caused him much grief, the lengths he goes to to protect them shows how loving and committed Rick really is. Amber's struggle to choose between the two men in her life is easy to identify with. She wants the stability she doesn't think Rick can offer her. Rick's conditions to Amber obtaining what she wants from him really turns out to be the window for her to see him for the man he really is and capable of. The setting of the everglades and hot scenes make this story hard to put down.
