| Stephanie Boyd is picnicking with her two young children when they witness a semi-trailer accident that turns into a blood bath when the driver is murdered. Two cops, her ex-husband and the sheriff are involved, along with members of a Russian mob, led by a man named Victor. With both cops murdered, Stephanie and her children escape and go to the police. FBI agent John Dolton plans to take them to a safe house, but they are attacked by Victor's men again. She escapes with her children, while Alexandra Mosley, a treasury agent John doesn't trust, arrives and saves him from a bulletS. They meet up with Stephanie and the children again, arrive at a safe house, where their attraction for each other grows. But someone is leaking information to Victor and the house is bombed. After a series of escapes, they end up at John's mountain cabin, where the mole arrives, intent on wiping out every last one of them.
This was a page turner that I couldn't put down. The action is continuous, keeping the reader on the edge of the seat. The protagonist and the hero are well drawn, very interesting, and believable. I liked Stephanie a great deal for her love for her children, the protection she gave them, and the way she was able to do things she normally wouldn't, like learn to shoot a gun. When up against danger, she comes through every time. The FBI hero, John Dolton, is a man with a great deal of love inside him, temporarily stifled because of a recent tragedy where he lost his wife and child. They help each other deal with their issues, at the same time they learn to care for one another. The love the two main characters share grows gradually, until near the end where they make love. The scene is beautiful and well done. The danger escalates until almost the last page when John races to save the woman he loves. This author is one to watch, and I will be waiting for her next thrilling romantic suspense.
