| In Eye of the Beholder, Raine has just found a cell phone under the seat in the cab she is riding in, but when she watches the last message on the phone to find out whom it belongs to, her entire existence is changed. She is kicked out of the cab and then the police are called on her when she attempts to enter her apartment building. She is left no choice but find the owner of the phone.
In Skin Deep, Detective Maxwell Lincoln is horribly scarred after a terrible car crash. Now he is just looking forward to his day in court. After the accident that nearly kills him and his girlfriend, Candace, he pushes her away. He does not want her to suffer the stares and the pain that he goes through. He is about to find out that Candace doesn’t give up that easily. This was a good book; that actually consisted of two separate stories. Ms. Dennis has written interesting characters that the reader cannot help but feel for and hope for them to find peace and love. Both stories will keep you guessing until the very end, but I found Skin Deep to be a little stronger. Anyone looking for a little suspense and romance, this is a good place to start.
