| Janelle Hart has reached the end of the line with her lying, cheating, criminal boyfriend. Afraid for her life and that of her daughter, Shelby, she escapes New York for a small town in Colorado. She's changed her hair, lost weight and now goes by the initials JC. Little does she know Josh Sutter, a man she befriended online, is living in the same town. A budding relationship between them is aided by the friendship of their daughters. But her ex won't let her get away and threatens anything they may build.
JT Schultz builds quite a story with main characters who both have something to hide. The feelings between them grow in spite of it but we know they're sitting on a powder keg waiting to blow if the lies of commission and omission ever catch up to them. The two daughters, Shelby and Josh's daughter Brooke shine as great pubescent preteens throughout the story. Friends Mitch, Keith, Morgan, Kelly, Allan and Gaby are also realistic and a great addition to make the story more like a great small town kind of tale. Dominic and his cohorts are nasty and easy to dislike. They bring a nasty taste of big city crime and evil into an otherwise idyllic atmosphere. The author lulls us into a nice romance and then the keg we knew was there blows up. JC has been hiding some skills behind her sweet demeanor that makes her a powerhouse when her man and her family is threatened. When Josh's secret job comes to the forefront at almost the same time we get a lot of action and reaction that drives the book to a thrilling, action-packed finale. This is a great storyline that combines eroticism, family values, and romance with that underlying thread of suspense to keep the reader on their toes throughout.
