Blaze Robinson is a witch, and his books are fairly good sellers. He continues to keep his editor from trying to make his books sound more mysterious, rather than informative. And now his agent wants a woman to stay with him for a week for an interview. The only thing that gets him to say yes is the fact that she's the same woman who writes the Skeptic's Voice in Weird magazine, a column that makes him laugh and gives him a reason to keep his books the way they are. He doesn't expect to like the cowan as much as he does when she arrives, nor does he expect to be attracted to her.

When Valda arrives, she's more than skeptical, even when Blaze says and does things that aren't quite...charlatan. But it's the way she lusts after him that is disturbing.

Eyes of the Cowan didn't go into too many specifics about witchcraft, so it was easy to accept this part of the story. Furthermore, with all the humor spread throughout the book, I couldn't begin to concentrate on the story seriously. I was too busy giggling. Blaze and Valda both were very direct characters, and their conversations never really skirted around any issues. When they had sex, it was pretty much the same way. I'd hoped for a little seduction on Blaze's part, but it wouldn't have fit the story quite as well as what did happen. The romance in Eyes of the Cowan was complete by the end, but I admit that I had trouble totally buying it. There were certainly indications of deeper feelings than lust, but they seemed to have just developed when suddenly Blaze admitted he was in love. Yet, at the same time, I really enjoyed this story. It never had too much of one element, and everything came together pretty soundly. Eyes of the Cowan is very much worth a read, especially for people looking for a little giggle time!
