The usually stoic agent has had a secret crush on Vivi, one that she has shared and kept hidden behind an excellent facade. As the two tread on new ground they both have tried to avoid, the characters around them manage to build a life and death scenario. Vivi and family go from protecting a spoiled actress to trying to unravel a case of smuggled immigrants, most of whom are children forced into prostitution. There's never a dull moment in St. Claire's novels. She challenges us to comprehend severe agoraphobia amidst the other complications that keep us guessing. Each character has an important part to play in building the suspense. And every one of them adds an ingredient to make the mystery harder to unravel for a reader. What fun these books are for an avid suspense fan. Can't wait for the next one to come out. Once this book gets its claws into the reader it doesn't let go!
