| Twenty-fifth class reunions—who can imagine what will happen? Alex London had made a name for herself in Milan, Italy, as a fashion photographer. Her husband, the original Alex London, had been dead for five years. Unfortunately, her assistant, Toby Smythe, had RSVP'd for her and scheduled a photography session in New York for the following week. She wasn't sure she could return to Summerville High School—the place where she was considered a "nobody" -- known as Dorothy Alexandra Reagan. The only fond memory she had was her crush on teenaged heartthrob, Marty Keegan.
Derek (Deke) Carpenter was a world-known reporter based in New York. He hadn't planned to attend the reunion but his mother had made his reservations. He didn't want to disappoint her. Besides, he had always loved Dorothy Reagan. He wondered if she would be at the reunion and if she would even remember him. Silver James has penned a fast-paced, emotionally-charged book about looking back at a less-than-perfect teenaged life. She gave us main characters that had made it big in their adult lives. However, they had neither really overcome their pasts. The supporting cast were typically depicted and easy to either love or hate, as the case might be. She has projected a scenario that was so realistic it was impossible to put it down. This quick read would be perfect for an afternoon escape or a much-needed happily-ever-after. The story flowed quickly and smoothly, even in the poignant scenes. I laughed, I cried, and I imagined myself in these situations. I recommend anyone read this book. It was surprising to me, but a good read.
