Two years prior, Jericho James left town on the heels of his sister's killer, leaving Mercy Ainsworth alone and wanting for no one but Jericho. She had suitors but nothing came of them.

When he rode back into town, Mercy went to see him in his hotel room to give him the bad news of his mother's health. In the first initial meeting, despite the primal changes she saw in him, his hardened features delved the love she felt for him more deeply in her heart than before.

Jericho thought there was no way of his getting attached to anyone, let alone Mercy, as long as he hadn't found his sister's killer. However, because of his return, their state of affairs changed, and with Mercy in danger it opened his eyes to seeing things differently.

I really liked reading this novella. It was a fast read yet it delved into the story in a definitely nice way. Though I did find some actions to be a bit quick, the passion could be felt from both of the lead characers. I liked the fact that Jericho had a sense of humor, even though it didn't feel like it in the beginning. Congratulations Rebecca Goings on a job well done!
