| Jake Holden first meets Tully Chambers when she mistakes him for a trespasser and tackles him to the ground. This would seem a little over the top except Tully is a police detective hiding from the mob so she needs to always be on guard. Jake spent twenty years in the military. But after being wounded, he finds himself at a crossroad. Neither has plans for the future. Can this tough couple expect anything beyond tomorrow?
This was an adventurous read. I loved that the hero and heroine were both wounded individuals with serious issues and yet they remained strong and competent. The glimpses I got into Jake's heart and mind made him so realistic . I wish a few of Tully's secrets had been more fully disclosed as I still felt in the dark about her past that was eluded to. The descriptions of the Australian setting were fantastic. The pace of this novel was good. I enjoyed the build-up to the explosive action and the ultimate conclusion. I recommend this one.
