| Natalie has been longing for Stas since she was a teenager. She has empathic abilities, and so she knows that he feels a connection to her as well. The trouble is, he constantly denies it and goes out of his way to avoid her. He doesn’t seem to want her, and it makes it worse to know that he is denying what he really feels instead of making the effort to go after her. She’s just about given up on him when they are thrown together on an important assignment. Will she finally be able to break through the walls he’s built? Or is it time to give up the dream of loving Stas?
Stas has known Natalie since they were children, and he owes her father a lot, because they took him in when no one else would. He’s wanted her for a long time, but never acted on it because he’s not sure she would feel the same, and he doesn’t want to betray her father’s trust. When he needs her help to complete an critical mission, will he be able to keep her at arms length? There is a lot of chemistry between Stas and Natalie in this action packed romance. I could completely understand the frustration Natalie felt, and to tell the truth I would have gave up on him a long time ago and found someone else. They both were stubborn in their own way, and the interactions between the two kept the story going at a good clip. I found it a little hard to believe with her personality that she would put up with his attitude for all those years, especially knowing what she did with her gifts. I’d have thought would have gone after him much sooner, or given him up and found someone else. There’s some unexpected twists in the story that will leave you surprised, and that makes it a story that I couldn’t put down. Pret Ops: Familiar was a wonderful, fast paced story that I had a great time reading. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more from this talented author.
