High school baseball coach and chemistry teacher Mike Garretson hires co-worker, history teacher and historian Dr. Jennie Foster to work on his family tree. To help him acquire his inheritance Jennie jumps right into the mystery of Mike's ancestors. Soon they are uncovering century-old secrets which can destroy a multi-million dollar business empire and the legendary family who runs it. They discover very real skeletons in the closets and a current-day killer threatens both Mike and Jennie in order to keep the mystery concealed. Can the couple put the past to rest and concentrate on a future together?

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense novel. The characters in this adventure were fantastic, both the hero and heroine and the supporting cast. With a less skillful author the number of players could have been confusing but instead they enhanced the plot, expand the relationship between Mike and Jennie and help unravel the puzzle. The romance is subtle and strong as it seems to take the couple by surprise. Their connection comes across as genuine and strong. I like my heroes and heroines to be real people with relate-able personalities and these two did not disappoint. I'm a sucker for a cute little ball of fur in a story and this doggie helped with character development and the plot. This isn't a super clever mystery which is too taxing to solve, it is a fun one to follow along page by page. I loved all the detailed history in this tale; it was a perfect balance of knowledge without being too extensively boring. This would be a perfect read for lounging around the pool or curling up on a rainy afternoon.
