Having his last partner find his bloodmate, forcing Michael to then be freed as a companion, enables him to pick Cleo, who has no companion but now should, in his opinion, and namely one named Michael.
Her leaving him marked forces the issue on whether she might or might not want a companion after all. Hes certainly a luscious one, if she really were in the market, she must admit to herself. But she also comes to the realization he is the one who can give her something special; something missing before and since her makers death, emotionally and not only sexually. He also had opened her eyes to the world around her, allowing her to lose her inhibitions and open herself to others. To see just what possibilities can be shared between a companion and a nightwalker. This was a really great book. I liked the twist on the hes the one looking for a new lover routine. There isnt anything weak about this mans character or physical appearance and it is carried off really well by this author. Super storyline, characters with weaknesses and insecurities and the ability to admit to themselves that they need someone else to be complete; wonderful!
