When Chase McVicker sees a strange woman digging around one of his limos, he's a bit intrigued and a bit angry. Just who is this woman? Chase discovers that the female rustling in his limo is Katie Jo Hawthorne, and she's on the run from her ex-husband. Not only that, but she's determined to figure out who murdered her father and she believes that Chase's limos hold the key, literally. Her father's last words to her involved keys and now Katie Jo is determined to figure out what he meant.

Katie Jo isn't sure what to expect from Chase, especially when he seems willing to believe her about her father's murder. Even more importantly, he is willing to help her find the keys. But Katie is still leery. Her ex-husband taught her how easily appearances can be deceiving and Katie's not sure if she can trust Chase. The attraction between them is strong but that doesn't mean anything. It's when Chase starts to put actions to his promises that Katie Jo's trust and appreciation for him grows. But their mutual lust is set against a dangerous enemy who is after the keys that Katie Jo is searching for. Then there's her ex-husband. As the peril piles up, so to do the adventures and intimate encounters that Chase and Katie Jo share. As Katie Jo discovers, sometimes forging a new path can be the hardest, but most invigorating experience of a lifetime.

Fantasy Road is the second book in Barbara Baldwin's trilogy and like its predecessor, it's another fast-paced and dynamic romance. I initially had problems with Katie Jo's "woe-is-me" attitude and apparent damsel in distress façade. However, I felt as she grew closer to Chase, and started unraveling the mystery surrounding her father's death, those qualities became less apparent and Katie Jo herself became much stronger, likable, and interesting. Chase is a great character. He's funny, caring, oh-so-sexy, and more than willing to help Katie Jo shoulder her burdens. He's the perfect guy to have around when the going gets tough, and tough it does in Fantasy Road. I was very surprised with the twists and turns Ms. Baldwin plotted out and I was definitely led on a merry chase. This is a well-crafted romance that stars a personable pair that will grab your attention as they search for the keys and the answers to the death of Katie Jo's father. Fantasy Road is a most worthy addition to the Anywhere, Anytime, Anyway trilogy.
