| C.J. Weatherford is not a happy camper. His father has died and step sister Victoria Rivers is doling out the money. He wants it all, and he wants it now. Eleven years older than Tori, he has never been a loving sibling. Now Tori has everything -- the 22 acre private island, a successful cosmetics business, and a red hot lover who C.J. hates. He is out to settle the score.
Wood McCall was Tori's first and only lover. He doesn't know it, but 14-month-old Sam is a constant reminder. Wood was drunk and doesn't even remember the unprotected sex that led to the pregnancy. Tori had an arranged and unconsummated marriage when her family ran Wood off. C. J. blames Wood for the death of Diedre Smith, his old girlfriend. Tori wants to tell Wood the truth about their son. And she wants more of the red hot love she cannot forget. Wood, now the owner of Tex-Land Corporation, comes to the island under the pretext of assessing its value. A chance meeting two months earlier led to a highly erotic afternoon. Both characters would like a replay. They get that and so much more. The suspense is suggested by cigarette butts, fleeting shadows, and a misplaced knife. Only a small percentage of the book deals with the clues and danger. Much more of the story plays out as a catalog of sensual delight. Paradise Island and the mansion Tori occupies are both sumptuous. The physical relation is super steamy and highly varied. Baby Sam is on the mainland with his nanny and never really introduced to the reader. This is well written and compelling, but more for erotica fans than for those of suspense.
