| Dr. Julia Cabot, child psychologist, was the mother of four-year-old twins, Abraham and Abigail. The children were very upbeat and believed in angels watching over them. When they saw a feather in their floor, they knew the angel was there. Their mother really needed an angel because their Daddy had come home and abused their Mommy. When they escaped to her friends’ home, they met Mitch Garrison who had a past of his own.
Mitch Garrison’s wife had been killed while he was supposed to be taking care of her. She worked with abused wives; some years ago she’d been shot in front of him. He never got over it. He was staying at the Victorian home where Julia was taking her children. The mutt who adopted him immediately fell in love with the children. Mitch had horrors of his own to face, but he had to help keep Julia and her children safe until her friend and her new husband returned from their honeymoon. Ms. Genene Valleau did a great job with the plot of this book. It was extremely interesting and, even though there was quite a bit of suspense, the overall story was upbeat. The characters were intense and she delved into just enough of their pasts to make the book even more remarkable. The parts the twins played were such a sweet element to the storyline that the book was hard to put down. The development of the relationship between the two main characters was poignant and emotionally charged. There was little sexual action but the sensuality made the book even more exciting. While devouring this book, I never anticipated the turn of events which took place. As the book ended, I found myself even more surprised. It was really well written. This book is one that people will find they recommend over and over. I, too, want to recommend that you read this book. I guarantee it will be almost impossible to put down. Great job, Ms. Valleau.
