Adam Good is an arson investigator for his home town fire department. The last person he ever expected to see hired as a private investigator to help him find an arsonist and the person who murdered his brother is Brynn Harlow. She’s the woman he loved and expected to marry until she betrayed him and left town with another man. The more the two search the clearer the picture becomes of the kind of man his brother really was. Try as she does Brynn can’t keep Adam from learning more about what drove her away from him.

Crystal-Rain Love has penned a great story of a small town too easily led by those with the biggest mouths. It doesn’t seem to matter whether what is spoken is true or not. The characters in this tale are an excellent cross section of humanity. Brynn is great. She’s lost everything but has still managed to keep her self respect, pride and dignity through it all no matter what life has put in her path. Others like Zeke have everything given to them but manage to want and take more no matter who they hurt. Adam is somewhere in the middle. Too easily swayed by what he’s told he loses sight of what it means to love and be loved. Trust and respect seem too fly out the window when his love is challenged. Others who fit into a cross section of humans, some good, some nasty help drive this story.

The author gives us a romantic suspense with that little extra that makes a story special. Not only are we trying to figure out who the killer and arsonist is, we’re hoping just maybe Adam may grow up and become a man worthy of someone like Brynn and her son. This is an excellent, well crafted book.
