| Andrew is a professor of history from Boston looking to find his birth parents on the Greek island of Crete. For some time he has corresponded online with Stephanos, enjoying their mutual love of Minoan history and he looks forward to staying with him for two weeks while Stephanos helps him search for his family in a remote village.
A connection has already been made between them before they meet and it sparks to a flame when they first set eyes on each other.
Fires of Crete is a well written, sensual, emotional read. The intriguing Stephanos is a man tormented and lost after being disowned by his family after coming out as gay to them. He's broken and hurting and longs to enjoy much more than a physical connection with Andrew, but is scared to give in to his needs when two weeks is all they have. Andrew understands his pain and feels just as torn. The visit might have been about discovering his family, but he's soon head over heels for Stephanos and the two have to make decisions on where they go from here. The atmosphere of Crete is well sketched and the chemistry between the two characters smoulders off the page. All in all an enjoyable read.
