Dani Lampert cannot believe after four years together her boyfriend, Brian doesn’t wish a wedding. He calls everything off leaving Dani alone and confused. She decides to escape for a weekend to a beach bungalow to do some serious thinking, only to have a handsome man knock her off her feet. Cody Shepherd had never seen anyone as lovely as Dani. He wanted to know more about her but he had no idea the opening of the door would knock her into darkness. They share time together and lengthy discussions and discover much about the other. Dani begins to question is he for real or is his whole conversation fabricated. When they go their separate ways, she questions if he will keep his promise to see her again, and when two months go by, she begins to wonder is every man filled with lies and will her life always be lonely.

Fire and Independence is a delightful page-turner. Dani and Cody are characters that I fell in love with and kept my fingers crossed they would find a way to each other. Ms. Mahn creates a story where the reader can practically feel Dani’s emotions as she struggles with the feelings inside her heart. With believable characters and some passionate chemistry between the two, Ms. Mahn pens a winner in this charming read.
