| Dan Conover has promised to protect the hellhound pups descended from the werewolf who saved his life. When two of them go missing he joins with guardian Tess Sirilla to find them in Cave Canem by Susan Sizemore. This book has some puppy training sessions that will make any you've done look like a stroll in the park. Hellhounds pack quite a bite. Dan and Tess aren't supposed to be a good match as a vampire and a werewolf but you couldn't tell that by their raging hormones!
In Russian Roulette by Erin McCarthy Alistair Kirk turns into a superhero to rescue a woman held hostage by his ex wife Cassandra. Sasha Chechikov isn't real sure she wants to be rescued especially by a vampire. Who wouldn't want to be rescued by a gorgeous man? Seems like Sasha needs to be convinced that she needs Alistair's help before she can share her story with him. It is definitely not a pretty story of what a vile man like her husband and his friends put her through. Ms. McCarthy does her usual exceptional job telling this tale. Ginny and Geneva are twins with an evil master. When Ben Tyree, a Texas deputy, goes to New York investigating his brother's murder he gets sucked into the evil games at least one of the twins is playing. Double the Bite by Chris Marie Green takes us into the hard core hang outs of New York City. Ginny's and Geneva's tale is terrible as their life is twisted and churned by the man who turned them. Ms. Green does a very compassionate job helping Ginny break the tie with her sister to save her own life. Six years ago Jack Harrington was told that Annie Gallagher, the love of his life, was dead. When he wakes up to find her in his bed they have a lot of talking to do. Thicker Than Blood by Meljean Brooks is a story of the two becoming reacquainted while searching for her adopted daughter and trying to destroy a demon who's killing vampires. Cricket may be a minor character compared to Jack and Annie but the way Ms. Brooks tells it her story, her courage and her street smarts are one of the best parts of the book Each of these stories holds well developed characters, suspense, romance and great dialogue. I highly recommend this anthology as being full of good reading by gifted authors.
