The first time Singer McLaine sees Evan Wolcott she's rescuing him from bad guys. Looking forward to seeing him again she's devastated when the pizza he promised shows up but he doesn't. Believing him to be like every other man who has treated her badly she's upset when they're thrown together on another case. To find a vicious man who thrills at killing they have to play man and wife to try to get evidence against him. What starts as an act neither want to participate in turns into a love neither believes possible.

Sharon Horton has done a superb job crafting this story. Singer and Evan are people with a past and some incidents thrown at them that challenge their feelings and their future. Not many authors seem to take on a storyline as complex as this one is. She builds the story to the heights of romance, takes it to the depths of despair and loss and rebuilds it again in a way that pulls me in as a reader. There are many diverse friends and family members who make the love story and the journey Singer and Evan travel bearable. Dialogue that is rich in wit, romance and every emotion helps convey what the people are feeling.

One of the best points I found in this book is that no matter how helpful, well intentioned or well trained friends and clinicians may be, love is a power that can work miracles. Ms. Horton does a great job with this unique book.
