| Sam McAllister (aka Snake) became speechless when he first saw Eden Pace, the lady gambler. He had never seen a more beautiful woman. In 1883 Texas, it was very unusual to find a sexy, appealing woman poker player who commanded attention from all the other players. Sam was not immune. He couldn’t force himself to ignore the compulsions he had toward the lady gambler.
Eden Pace was unaccustomed to being led into the path of such activity for immoral purposes. Eden had a mission—she had to find the killer of her husband. Nothing, or no one, would stop her. She didn’t expect Sam McAllister to present a problem with her mission. He would, however, change her life forever. Ms. Gem Sivad has, once again, penned a novel filled with both a dynamic plot and a fascinating storyline. This intense book followed the lives of two people who were very different but the attraction was quite evident from the first. The couple were so compelled to obtaining their own personal goals, it was almost impossible to have foreseen the directions this book would take. It was written in such a way that I could not put it down. There were myriad people involved—some family, some enemies. There was no way I could possibly have predicted how it would end. The characters were so diverse, it was incredible to read and keep it straight. I was mesmerized from the beginning. The scenes were action-packed and, many times, quite erotic. The sensuality was sizzling and very, very frequent. This book placed a woman consumed by rage and placed her in the hands of a bounty hunter. Neither was prepared for what would happen. I highly recommend this book to any who love historical westerns. It is a complex book with an amazing conclusion. This is why I’m excited to read anything written by Gem Sivad.
