Ruth has always been curious about the Desperate and Dateless Ball. Now that she is here, she is glad to see it, but not eager to return. Full of Blue Vodka, she heads out the door only to run into the gorgeous Rylan Montague. There has always been an attraction between the two, but Ruthie always shies away from the handsome vampire. She does not want to be just one of his many lovers across the galaxy. Rylan has always been tremendously attracted to Ruth. Not only is she beautiful, but she has spunk and intelligence. What he didn’t guess is that she is the woman who can complete his Soul Circle. He uses a trip to find his missing father to convince Ruthie of his love.
The Montague Vampires series is becoming one of my favorites. The vampires are sexy men with a little something extra, and the women in their lives are full of fire and spunk, definitely not passive ingénues. The author also writes some pretty scorching love scenes. Rylan and Ruthie are very well matched, and Rylan quickly realizes he has to convince Ruthie to stay with him forever. She is a little leery of the Soul Circle thing, not wanting to be controlled by anyone. It is a nice touch for Rylan to bring her to the library to read all about the Soul Circle, not just telling her about it and expecting her to believe everything he says. An investigator by trade, Ruth relies on research. The subplot of Gav and Chantal should make an interesting sequel that I hope will be every bit as good as this and the previous stories.
