At the young age of 32 Tamara Briggs is a widow with two children and a hesitant outlook on love. After her race driver husband was killed in an accident she is determined not to get involved with any man in the racing profession. Putting herself back on the dating scene has been a struggle for Tamara and when race car driver Elec Monroe enters her life. Looking for a little excitement in her life Tamara gives into her passions and has what she thinks is a one-night stand with Elec. Unbeknownst to her, Elec has other plans for keeping Tamara in his life. Tamara must decide if she can get past the walls she has erected in order to find true happiness.

McCarthy has written an enticing novel that deals with many issues women face. Getting back in the dating pool after the loss of a spouse, age differences, family loyalties and dealing with introducing a new person to children are just a few of the themes that run through this captivating story. The characters are well-developed and the potential for the continuation of the series is there. Tamara is endearing in that she is a real woman who has body issues after having two kids, a protective nature towards her children and a basic concern with getting involved with a younger man. What will everyone think? Elec wants nothing more than to alleviate these fears in Tamara and goes to great lengths to prove his commitment to her. The secondary characters of Tamara's best friend Stephanie and her ex-husband Ryder add comedy relief which had me laughing out loud. This is a very sensual read with many erotic scenes tastefully done. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to those who like spicy, hard to put down reads.
