Kimberly Wolfe had loved Peter Samuels forever, it seemed. She loved him when she was a child, when he was married to Lydia, and since Lydia’s death. She was involved with his family and loved them as her own also. She worked for Peter in his Christian bookstore and coffee shop where she baked cinnamon buns every day. She had lived alone since she was 19 (she was now 34) because she left her domineering father’s home to escape his dictatorship. She had trouble accepting that all men weren’t alike. The only comfort she seemed to get was when they gathered at the Samuels home—the home of Peter’s parents—every Sunday after church for lunch.

Peter Samuels’ wife Lydia had died of cancer a year ago. He was raising his two children, James (13) and Brenna (11). Kim had taken on much of the day-to-day running of the store during the past year when he seemed unable to function. Despite his faith in God and his still lingering grief, he had begun to look at Kimberly in a different light. He had even started to dream of her and of them together. He was a pastor’s son; he shouldn’t have problems with sexual thoughts.

Once again Karen Wiesner has written a book with a great plot. She has touched on subjects I have not found in most inspirational books. I am a fan of hers and appreciate the fact that she has chosen to address these things which we deal with in today’s world. There are spiritual truths mentioned, but the subject of sexual encounters and thoughts are also explored.

These two main characters were supported by a myriad of others. The entire Samuels family was involved throughout the entire book. The strengths and weaknesses were emotionally charged and Wiesner handled the subjects flawlessly. I applaud her for her insight into today’s lifestyles. The uplifting story of God’s love is evident. It is not, however, done in a fanatical manner.

This author definitely knows how to capture the readers and keep our interest. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
