| Kate Stanhope is a psychic who has been helping the local police department for about a year. Once again Detective Aidan Stone needs her insight. The body of a young woman has been found in the Thousand Islands region and Aidan and his team are at a standstill and he is grateful when her visions give him new leads to follow. Before they can explore their budding attraction, the investigation sets them on an adventure full of jeopardy, deceit and hypocrisy. Can Aidan catch the killer, help Kate vanquish the troubles from her past and build a future together?
I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense novel. This was a tense and realistic mystery with a great cast of complex characters. If you are looking for an engaging story, this is one to pick up. It has romance and intrigue as well as action and adventure, family drama and mysticism. This story takes place over a very short time period but I found the pace was pretty slow and dragging somewhat at the beginning. Maybe it was my lack of connection with the characters but I just felt something missing. Thankfully this changed the further along I got. Aidan and Kate are both strong and engaging with complicated pasts and interesting presents. Their relationship is a mature evolution and I enjoyed the glimpses into their joy and uneasiness with their changing connection. Each secondary character was vividly real, some heartbreakingly so. The description of the Thousand Islands region is fantastic and it made me want to book my next vacation. This would be a perfect read for lounging around the pool or curling up on a rainy or snowy afternoon. Overall I found this to be a solid story and I'm looking forward to seeing what else this author has to offer.
