| Five years ago newlyweds Jo and Lucius had a terrible fight. Lucius left Jo alone in London, demanding her return home in one letter a year. Jo is angry at the desertion, but would have returned home if he had only asked her and not ordered her in a yearly ducal letter. She has finally decided to move on with her life and take a lover, but her husband has been paying closer attention than she knows and has no intention of losing her.
This is an interesting story of two hard headed individuals who are unwilling to bend until it is almost too late. I liked the setting of a masquerade ball, even though I found it hard to believe that Jo could mistake her husband for the man she had decided to take as a lover. The love scenes made up for this however. They are wonderfully written and very sensual. I love a happy ending, especially in an historical romance and the author does a wonderful job with this one.
