| Chevon has had to hide her true self for over two hundred years, on the run from false accusations of killing her sister. Her unusual abilities and talents had kept her under the radar, but when she wakes up to a succubus and a Setti in her room she knows shes not going to be able to get out of this one by herself. When she has to call out for help, shes stunned to find Brock answering her call. Brock had been her lover, but when the chips were down he didnt defend her or believe in her. Shes trying to convince herself that she wants nothing to do with him will she succeed?
Brock has always been confused by his strong attraction to Chevon. It was instant and impossible to resist, and at the time he didnt even want to. When he found out that she had killed her sister and became a traitor, he didnt want to believe it. But the evidence was overwhelming and he had to concede defeat. Chevon managed to escape many years ago, but hed never been able to get her out of his heart. Can he ever trust her again? This story definitely had non-stop action from the start. I thought the interaction between Chevon and Brock was passionate and had they certainly had a good amount of issues to get through before they could become a couple. It was great that she didnt forgive him right away for his disbelief, although I still think that she forgave him a little too soon after so long apart and no real attempt on his part to find her. The characters were well thought out and intriguing, I would love to know what happens to Brocks current lover Luc; hes got such an unusual problem with emotions. Sylina, the villainess of the story, was another one that has a lot of issues to overcome, I wasnt really sure whether to feel sorry for her or smack her for going to the enemy. This is unquestionably the beginning of a series and will frustrate you if you think you can read it as a stand alone if nothing else you will want to find out what happens to the secondary characters. Overall, its a great beginning to what is sure to be a wonderful series.
