| This sensually explicit book offered three novellas which definitely allowed the lives of three, then two more, people to become part of the reader’s life; it was written in such a manner that I certainly felt part of the storyline. I easily lost myself in the tales that Ms. Maya Banks presented for our pleasure!
The first novella, “What She Wants,” introduced Travis “Mac” McKenzie, Ryder Sinclair, and Kit Townsend. Mac and Ryder had grown up in the small town Kit did; however, Mac and Ryder, as Kit’s closest friends, had left and abandoned Kit—in her opinion. Now the two long-time best friends are back and ready to assume their friendship with Kit. And what a relationship that becomes! Ryder felt completely lost in “What She Needs,” the second part of this book. After the first story, Ryder did not know how to let go of his feelings for Kit and, because of that, his bittersweet story offered a poignant and highly emotionally-charged narrative. Ms. Banks allowed readers to feel every Ryder’s every emotion; her method for storytelling is indescribable. Her plot allowed us to grasp the internal agony of his turmoil. The ending certainly will blow your mind! Finally, “What She Craves” told of Mia Nichols, a friend of Ryder, and Jack Kincaid, who disappeared two years earlier. Mia had fallen in love with Jack, who, because he was so much older, did not approve of the relationship. After one night together, he disappeared and she never heard from, nor saw him again until two years later. Mia, deeper into trouble than she would ever be able to crawl out of, was stripping in a bar in a small town and had no way of escaping. Jack came back! Don’t think this reunion will be beautiful and loving and the typical lovers’ tryst. This latest offering from Ms. Maya Banks certainly maintains the expected quality of her writing! As a fan of hers, I expected much and I was not disappointed! Here we have three inter-connected, but separate, stories giving us “to die for” plots and outstanding characters.
