| Helena and Andreas had a passionate and tumultuous marriage when both were too young to handle it. The entrance of Helena’s grasping birth mother into the mix put an end to the marriage. Both of them have now moved on, but Fate brings them together again when Helena is hired to decorate a hotel by one of Andreas’ business partners. Old secrets and new passion bring them together again.
This is a very engrossing tale reminiscent of some of the better old Harlequin romances. Helena was too young to get married and her parent’s death and her subsequent discovery that she was adopted really turned her life upside down. Andreas, busy with his various businesses looked at her as an annoyance and really did not take the time to help her through this, leaving the door wide open for the manipulative Diane. His close association with his PA did not help either, especially when he never noticed that Meletsa undermined Helena’s confidence also. Eight years later, Helena is starting to see Diane as she really is, but Diane and her business are all she has left. I loved the two main characters. Helena has grown up and is no longer the spoiled brat she was, but she still has compassion for her birth mother. Andreas has gotten harder and still finds it difficult to bend even a little. His little petty cruelties to Helena were really unnecessary, but show him as human. The other characters are very vivid and the reader will feel that they know them as well as the main characters. The author also gives us very vivid descriptions of both Malton in England and the island of Cyprus. I really enjoyed this story.
