| Tatyana Sokolov seems to be jinxed. Not only does she have worse luck than most in any game of chance, people she comes in contact with die. She's lost count of all the dead bodies. Now she's gotten mixed up with the Vegas Russian mob. To please the grandfather who runs it she has to pretend to be engaged to his grandson. Nikolay Kaerta is all she could ever want in a man. Knowing any attraction is likely to go nowhere because everyone will die, she's not very cooperative.
Kimber Chin pens a novel that is as full of suspense as it is with smiles. Tatyana is more of a Walmart girl, not one of the classy dames with a high price tag on their clothes and accessories that Nik is used to. She's as resourceful as any person could be escaping from bodyguards and other handlers. There are some great characters filling the pages. From Grandfather Sergei to the bodyguards who adapt in their own way to Tatyana's personality they can be warm and funny. At least when they aren't shooting someone or being shot at. Tatyana has class and charm in her own way that makes the reader warm up to her and root for her throughout. When two opposing mob bosses get involved anything can happen. Chan is smitten with her and always seems to be trying to take her away from Nik. Igroek, another grandfather from the east coast, has a unique involvement that helps drive the story. Chin keeps this fast paced and fun as we wait with trepidation to see how many bodies will fall as these mobsters do what they do best.
