This is the fifth entry into the Darwin's Theory series of books. This one is not a stand alone read. The stories are connected and should be read in sequential order. I found the story very interesting. The author used the written word effectively in expressing Darwin's emotions while dealing with his loss. The story centers around his grief on losing his best friend and lover Pete. There are some significant revelations that would definitely be a spoiler, so I'll leave it at that. The build up to the drama is paced nicely and was worth the wait. The characterization worked particularly well in this fantasy setting. The story moved quickly and was exciting in parts. For a short story, there is plenty of angst, drama and love too. Very nice read.
