| Myles Montgomery has known since she was eight that he would be Ashley
West's mate. He finally claimed her when he was forty-two and she
was eighteen. Waiting for her to grow up, he almost lost her when she
went with her friend Sherman Landon to rescue third world villagers. When
Ashley and Sherman returned, they were distraught over the terrible
events. Has Myles spent too long waiting for Ashley, or will she come
back to him?
A Fragile Family is the first story in J.J. Massa's chronicles of the next generation of the Livingston-Montgomery werewolves. The story was beautifully written, with the children and grandchildren of the original werewolves as the primary characters. This book can be read alone, but I was sorry that I did not read the other novellas first. Myles is a werewolf, but made, not born. He has a wonderful British accent and I loved the difference between the way Myles spoke and the rest of the characters' dialog. I found him to be a very kind and loving man. Ashley was a difficult character for me to connect to because of her distress. I was not sure all the way through if Myles and Ashley would be able to work out their difficulties until she and Myles had sex that was very hot. Even then, the surprising twists and turns made it difficult to know what would happen. The secondary characters were equally well-written and each had a place in moving the plot along. I hugely enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading both the earlier stories and the new books coming. Ms. Massa has a wonderful gift and it was apparent again in this great book.
