Silken, a former courtesan, has been given his freedom by Nanashi, a vampire, binding the two together with even stronger bonds.

Ms. Okati has done an exceptional job of building two characters into loveable human beings. There’s no good and bad here, just two lovers who start out on opposite ends of the social caste system building a relationship. Tidbits of information about their history and their day by day living are added in the background to make this night of loving and sharing even more believable. She paints each scene with great care to detail. We can feel the doubts Silken is feeling when Nanashi suggests a role reversal of sorts to help him understand his lover even better. And we can see Silken coming out of the shell he still has left over from his former life. It slips away as the roles split then blend again in a way that’s pleasing to both of them. This is a well done tale with hints along the way that more could be written about this duo.
