Eric Sebastian had it all-a thriving business, plenty of money, a beautiful home and all the women he could possibly have time to date. That is, of course, until he meets the woman of his dreams, Sophie McGraw. Unfortunately, Sophie is the brand-new wife of his very best friend, Kevin. And then the unthinkable happens; Kevin is killed in an automobile accident. Not only does he die in his drug/alcohol induced state, but he also kills four people in the other car!

Sophie is absolutely lost. She has been married for only 9 months, and her father-in-law, unwilling to accept the downfall of his son, blames her for the drugs and alcohol. He evicts her from the home she had shared with Kevin, and she has nowhere to go. Then Eric steps in; because he was Kevin's best friend, he feels responsible for helping her. He talks Sophie into moving into his home with him and going to work as his assistant.

It is obvious that the couple is keeping secrets from each other. Kevin had told Eric what he wanted Eric to believe about his marriage. He told him that Sophie had cheated on him and that she liked to be treated roughly. When Eric saw various bruises on her body, weeks after Kevin's death, Eric thinks her "lover" must have left them. He does not know that those were Kevin's last "gift" to Sophie before he died. Eric is sure that Sophie is suffering because she lost the love of her life; Sophie is tormented because she does not want to tell Eric how her marriage truly ended.

The conditions of their living together changes almost daily; however, each is secretly in love with the other. What happens in this exchange of daily circumstances makes a lovely story. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author. . Ms. Mary Eason weaves a truly beautiful story which honestly gives the reader insight into That's What Friends Are For.
